The successful candidate appointed to Senior Lecturer/Lecturer level will be expected to have a PhD in economics and a Master’s or Bachelors qualification in Mathematics or a related discipline with significant mathematical content. Strong technical skills in computer programming including GAMS and STATA and substantial experience in building and developing CGE and other simulation models is required and some application of these models in a health context is also essential. The candidate must have an interest in methodological development, coupled with excellent organisational skills. Successful experience of line managing or mentoring junior staff is desirable if appointed at Lecturer level.

The successful candidate will be committed to both applying and advancing methods for simulation models, particularly Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) models in GAMS and for creating a supportive and stimulating intellectual environment, supporting junior staff and students, linking with other modellers and researchers to link current research approaches to economic models within LSHTM, and strengthening networks with external collaborators.
